Two Minutes with Martin Bird, Digital Marketing Executive

Two Minutes with Martin Bird, Digital Marketing Executive

This week we spoke to Martin Bird, Digital Marketing Executive, based in our London and Oxford offices.

Tell us a little bit about your career so far?

I joined Infospectrum in April 2021. Prior to that, I spent around 10 years working in customer service positions within the maritime industry. During this time, a role in the marine fuels sector gave me the chance to learn a huge amount about the unique complexities and pressures of bunker trading, and the necessity for fast, compliant decision-making to remain competitive in a tight market. I also enjoyed working and connecting with industry peers overseas at major events in locations such as Singapore and Greece.

What attracted you to the role at Infospectrum?

Having worked at a company that utilised Infospectrum’s Counterparty Risk Appraisal Reports & Ratings, I had come to hold the company in high regard, particularly in respect of its Analyst team’s expertise, and the quality of products and solutions offered. Within this industry-leading environment, I knew I could thrive by putting my product familiarity and industry experience to effective use. The marketing role further appealed to me as it brought together my passions for shipping, people, and artistic creativity.

What is your core focus right now?

I am working on for key work streams:

  • Designing, implementing, and analysing strategic marketing campaigns for Infospectrum's globally recognised products and solutions
  • Promoting expert insights from our Analysts across our marketing channels, spanning web, email, and social media
  • Organising  Infospectrum events around the globe, delivered exclusively for our clients and contacts, including our annual Counterparty Risk Forums and International Energy Week networking receptions. Next year, I will also be producing an exclusive event to celebrate Infospectrum's 25th Anniversary
  • Designing impactful artful that informs our clients and network of our latest initiatives and providing valuable insights on key industry developments. This includes event banners, presentations, multimedia communication, and commercial documentation

What is the best thing about working for Infospectrum?

Since my first day, Infospectrum has been a fantastic place to work, and I would say that my positive experience is primarily down to the people. The team is extremely knowledgeable, highly-experienced, inquisitive, friendly, and very welcoming. I say “team” because we are just that – each person brings something special to the table, creating a supportive, responsive, and dynamic working environment that is focused on integrity and quality, balanced with modesty, and a collaborative approach that meets the high expectations of a discerning client base.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I am a huge fan of metal music, so I like to spend a lot of my time outside of work playing my guitars and trying to write a few songs, listening to albums and podcasts, and going to gigs and festivals.
